STUDIO4 Architects, Urban Planning and Design Practice in Cape Town was founded by Peter Muller in 2004. Every project undertaken is developed within a consistent, integrated core team, led by Peter. Peter prides himself on offering clients a very personal service.

The multidisciplinary practice combines the complete design expertise required for any development.  Through cooperation with longstanding partners and colleagues Studio 4 provides a holistic service from feasibility studies through environmental and traffic studies, architectural and engineering design, quantity surveying and project management, ensuring that all aspects of planning and design and conducted and coordianted between the necessary specialists.

Peter’s project portfolio includes hospitals, educational facilities, high rise commercial buildings, industrial buildings, masterplanning, upmarket residential projects, low cost housing and squatter upgrading, leisure complexes, heritage buildings and art galleries. The office practices a contemporary style of architecture and clients are encouraged to become part of the team. Peter believes it is vital to listen to and respect the needs of his clients and to then apply the team’s expertise in achieving the desired result.

Each project is undertaken on an individual basis with the particular needs, and constraints, of the project being assessed and processed to produce optimised, innovative and personalised plans. Although a contemporary style is adopted for new builds, Peter also works on upgrading heritage buildings, specialising in combining old and new to revitalise and bring the past into the present.

Green architecture is very important to Studio 4 and the practice is a member of South Africa's Green Building Council.   As a member of the GBCSA we actively support and adhere to the vision and mission of the GBCSA and contribute directly through our own organisation's activities.  The team considers all aspects of environmentally friendly building, from materials used to techniques applied, from energy saving installations to use of sustainable resources.  It is our aim to see that all buildings are designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable way allowing us all to work and live in healthy, efficient and productive environments.
